Oranges and Lemons
Oranges and Lemons
This rhyme depicts a conversation between the church bells of several churches in or adjacent to the city of London. It has always been sung and played as a particular dance/game whereby children walk in pairs underneath a bridge made by the arms of two other children. In the end all the children are “caught” and team up to play a came of tug of war. Make sure to bring a sturdy rope and find soft grass or a sand pit to play it on. The warmer, dryer seasons are preferable to teach this one, unless you're happy with mud-covered children traipsing into the classroom afterward playing it!
